Over the weekend, we found several boxes in the attic that we had never noticed before. They were tucked away in a hidden spot in the attic.
When we bought the house, we hoped that maybe the original bathroom light fixtures were stored away somewhere in the house. We searched the attic, which, except for a wooden shoe from Germany and an old television antenna, appeared to be empty. When we found these boxes, we wondered if our wish might have come true.
We opened the first box. It was filled with boy scout stuff from the 1950s. The next two boxes were filled with more family mementos--photos, scrapbooks, and other keepsakes. We tracked down the former owner of the house and returned those items to her.
The last two boxes didn't contain the light fixtures we were hoping to find. However, they did contain something for the house, and it was something we needed. The boxes were filled with extra pink tile for our bathroom. Now we can fix the broken tiles under the sink!
